Poh, nostalgic by nature started video-making for his family & friends
with a $4,100 camcorder in 1979. It was the year video just emerged in Singapore.
His passion for video and the entrepreneurship quickly extended it to the
corporate world.
Today, with a paid-up capital of $400,000 and with over a million dollars
facilities, Academy Video's acquisitions include more than 50 camcorders and
five high-end editing systems catered to all aspects of video assignments.
A recipient of The Spirit of Enterprise Awards in 2003, Michael still continues
his trusted hands-on approach to lend a personal touch to the creative works,
supported by a dynamic team of five creative talents.
With its illustrious history of over 27 years in the video-making, Academy
has an impressive portfolio. They include 3,000 wedding memoirs and numerous
corporate events. Its major production include documentaries on the Singapore
River Re-development, the New Supreme Court Building, Harbour Front Towers,
and The Esplanade where to date, more than 100 performances as been recorded.
Its recent production are documentaries on the Chestnut Avenue Water Plant
and a 3-year national project on the Marina Barrage.
